Delighted to introduce our newest Senior HR Business Partner, Nicole.

Nicole is a true generalist with experience in all functions of HR, but is also schooled and certified in change management. She loves learning the ins and outs of each business, and has a knack for developing strategic HR solutions that support a holistic approach to company goals, corporate culture and the overall employee experience.

Outside of work you can find Nicole hiking a trail with her dog Luna, socializing with family and friends, or tackling DIY projects at home.

1. Have you always wanted to be in HR? Tell us a bit about your career journey to land where you are today.

I actually started my career in healthcare as a Dietitian, but after five years I realized I enjoyed the process of developing wellness and training programs, implementing change management, and the general overall business aspects of my job more than the actual science and nutrition. This realization led me to go back to school to do my MBA and become an HR Consultant.

2. HR specialties/areas of focus/passions?

I am a true generalist. I love learning the ins and outs of each business and their strategies, and then thinking through how HR can support them in achieving their goals while also developing a great culture and supporting the experience for employees.

3. Career mentor/role model? Who and why?

One of my previous leaders always led by example, and through coaching, taught me that you can build a career that you enjoy while also challenging yourself, blending work and life in a way that is individual to you. I am forever thankful for that lesson!

4. Looking ahead, what does the future of the HR function look like to you? How will workplaces shift and change?

I think it’s a very interesting time to be in HR with all of the global shifts to the workplace and The Great Resignation. It is leading the HR profession and business leaders to think of their employee value proposition in new ways. I also think technology and availability of HR data is changing and advancing HR in exciting ways!

5. The impact you hope to have on client workplaces.

I hope I can be a valuable member of their team, helping to align their people strategies with their overall business strategies and also ensuring they have everything covered from a day-to-day operations perspective.

6. Words to live by. (Could be a motto, HR mantra, favourite quote etc.)

You don’t know what you don’t know, until you know it!

7. Your go-to, mid-week pick-me-up?

A walk in the woods with my dog Luna.
