Team Spotlight – Joanna Rozycki

Published:January 28, 2022

Meet Joanna – our newest Humani face, and an absolute force. As our HR Coordinator, she brings with her a can-do attitude to help her tackle anything thrown her way. She’s spent time living and working abroad, has previous experience in the financial sector, and found her love of HR while working at Apple.

Like most of us, she’s got a big soft spot for organizations who truly value their employees, and is committed to helping our clients build long-term relationships with employees through trust, transparency and professionalism.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her hubby and 2 young children, exploring their city and the world whenever possible. She’s also an avid photographer, and freelances on the side.

Learn more about Joanna via her spotlight below.

1. Have you always wanted to be in HR? Tell us a bit about your career journey to land where you are today.

My interest in HR sparked when I worked at Apple and took on a mentorship role. I loved sitting in on group interviews, facilitating CORE training, and onboarding new staff in store. It took me a bit of travelling and trying different roles to decide this was the right path for me, and so I returned to school and completed my post-grad in Human Resources Management upon my return to Canada.

2. HR specialties/areas of focus/passions?

Recruitment, Training and Development, Employee Rewards

3. Career mentor/role model? Who and why?

A former co-worker and fellow mentor from Apple named Jamie. He taught me a lot in regards to training and development during our time facilitating CORE training sessions there. A few years ago, I watched him step down to take care of his mental health during what I might consider the prime of his career, only to come back stronger than ever.

4. Looking ahead, what does the future of the HR function look like to you? How will workplaces shift and change?

There will be a big focus on hybrid roles becoming the norm as well as a work-life balance for employees. I think HR will have to shift focus to improving employee benefits and flex-work options in order to retain their top talent.

5. The impact you hope to have on client workplaces.

I hope to provide the level of support they need to ensure that they have top talent in place and are able to offer competitive and rewarding training, benefits, and work environments.

6. Words to live by. (Could be a motto, HR mantra, favourite quote etc.)

Do what you love, love what you do.

7. Your go-to, mid-week pick-me-up?

A phone call or in-person chat with a friend over coffee.

As trusted HR advisors, Humani HR can help you build great relationships with your employees. Connect with us to start a conversation.
